September Festivals & Such

While it's easier to meet new folks at smaller events, I couldn't resist posting the upcoming festivals/large events this month.  Our fabulous fall festival season is one of my favorite things about P'cola.  Mark your calendars!

This Weekend:  Emerald Coast Beer Fest
Fri., Sep. 9, 6:00 - 8:30 p.m.
This is last-minute, but you can't say I didn't try to tell you about it!  I'm not crazy about the taste of beer, but I will be at this event because I detect the smell of good food.  Who knows, I might even find a beer I like.  We shall see...  This event comes at a price ($30), but the price is cheaper if you buy in advance ($25).  Ticket sales benefit the Seville Rotary Club and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Florida.

Gallery Night
Fri., Sep. 16, 4ish - 9ish
A regular favorite.  Need I say more.

What I'm Most Looking Forward to in September...
FREE classic movie at the beautiful Saenger Theatre on Friday, Sep. 16!  Yep, that's right.  What's playing?  A movie called A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.  I have never heard of this movie before in my life, but I will be there just for the experience of munching on popcorn and M&Ms in the Saenger.  (Yes, I'm serious.  I really hope they have concessions.)  For added excitement, art and a Canstruction--a big piece of architecture made out of canned food--will be displayed in the lobby.  Doors open at 7:30 p.m.  Show starts at 8 p.m.  Admission:  Complete a brief survey sharing your opinion.  For more information, check out pensacolasaenger.com or www.downtowncrowd.com.

Angel's Garden New Beginnings 16th Annual Art Show
Fri., Sep. 16 -- Sun., Sep. 18
This one is for the art lovers!  According to DTC (Downtown Crowd--love this paper), this event begins on Friday evening.  It continues Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.  The show is in the park at the corner of 12th Ave. and Gonzalez St. in East Hill.  Proceeds go to FavorHouse of Northwest Florida and benefit victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault.  Here's more info.:  http://angelsgardengifts.com/store/index.php

4th Annual Taste of the Beach
Sat., Sep. 17 -- Sun., Sep. 18
I've never been to this event before, but there is seafood (always a plus) and a Corvette show!  Click here to see what's on the menu:  http://pensacolabeachchamber.com/Events/TasteoftheBeach.aspx

Seafood Festival
Fri., Sep. 23 -- Sun., Sep. 25
The name says it all.  This event is non-negotiable.  You just can't miss it.  I can't wait to get my fried gator fix right there in Seville Square.

Pensacola Beach Songwriter's Festival
Wed., Sep. 28 -- Mon., Oct. 3
This sounds pretty cool.  If anyone has experience with this festival, please leave a comment and let us know how you liked it.
